The arrival of fall brings with it new possibilities in the world of menswear. We’ve rounded up some of the season’s top trends that work with every guy’s style (and budget). Gents be sure to read on.
Start with some basic color schemes—this season seems to be borderline grey scale—pick any gray tone that suits your mood and you’re right on board with this trend. Don’t have anything gray in your wardrobe already? Pick up a simple gray T-shirt, and while your at the store grab one in army green as well - because that’s the next color that designers made prominent for this season. Dark, forest and military green are musts this season and look awesome paired with our chestnut colored leather bags (may we suggest our classic leather weekender bag, perfect for holiday traveling). Looking for something lighter? Mint hues also fit the bill this season.
When it comes to fall and winter clothes, you can’t forget your daily staple: a coat. This season notably incorporated some outrageous outerwear in a wide range of colors and patterns. If a bright velour leopard print coat is not quite your style – don’t fret –you’ve got other on-trend options! First, the long coat is back – to quote GQ, “Whether single – or double- breasted, the most popular coat this season was cut from wool with a soft shoulder that fell just off the shoulder to give a slouchy oversized vibe.” The next trend ids serious coat layering - basically building your own warmth level. We like the idea of mixing textures here (i.e. a wool coat over a canvas jacket) and incorporating some sort of print. Double points if you master this look with a shearling trimmed or lined coat. The runway was filled with shearling jackets, promising warmth, comfort and style to all fashion conscious men out there.
If you find that you love layering, step it up a notch and go for this next trend: the classic layered sweater. Stay comfortable with a thin first layer, followed by a thicker sweater, minimizing bulk. Add some more intrigue to your outfit with a graphic sweater – keep it simple with monochromatic tones, but mix it up with interesting patterns.
If you really want to be on trend this season make sure you have some sort of checked pattern in your wardrobe. Chances are you’ve got a plaid flannel hanging around your closet somewhere, and that works perfectly. Take this trend to the next level with a checkered sport jacket or even neutral colored plaid pants for work.
Look around your wardrobe – did you find any gray, green, or checkered items? Then you’re good to go! No such luck – then you have the perfect excuse for a fall wardrobe refresh. And don’t forget your leather weekender bag to pack stylishly for this season’s big trips!
